  • Joint subscribers must be spouses or common-law partners.
  •  When joint subscribers are the parents, always put the mother’s name first on the RESP application and grant/bond application.
  • Family plans can only be opened by the parents or grandparents of the beneficiaries.
  • For each beneficiary under a Family plan a separate grant application form must be completed.
  • The maximum $5,000 Educational Assistance Payment in the first 13 weeks of full-time post-secondary schooling refers only to the income, grant and bond portion of the withdrawal.  The subscriber may request any or all of the contributions withdrawn within the first 13 weeks of the beneficiary starting school.
