RRSP and RRIF Estate T4s Worksheets

It is important that estate T4RSPs and T4RIFs are issued in the right name for the correct tax year with the proper amount. It is unlikely your credit union’s data system will provide you with the correct reporting requirements. 

RP Success has developed two excel worksheets that will provide the proper T4 information for credit unions under a trusteed program after completion of some important details.

Estate T4RSP Information Required:

  • Deceased's name and Social Insurance Number
  • Deceased's RRSP contract number
  • Contract Value as at date of death
  • Contract Value as at date of payout/transfer
  • If beneficiary(s) named: Name and Social Insurance Number

If plan was terminated after exempt period, additional required information:

  • Contract value as at December 31st of year after year of death
  • Contract value as at December 31st for each year contract remained opened

Estate T4RIF Information Required:

  • Deceased's name and Social Insurance Number
  • Deceased's RRIF contract number
  • RRIF Contract Value as at date of death
  • RRIF Annual Minimum Payment in year of death
  • If RRIF Payments made prior to death
    • Gross payment/withdrawal amount
    • Withholding tax deducted
  • If Successor Annuitant (S/A) continuing contract:
    • Name and Social Insurance Number of S/A
  • If RRIF Payments receive by S/A
    • Gross payment/withdrawal amount
    • Withholding tax deducted
  • Contract Value as at Date of Payout/Transfer
  • If beneficiary(s) named: Name and Social Insurance Number
